Of Blood and Bone

Love is dangerous…

“I’m a monster, Eva. There is no saving a monster. But I love that you want to try.”
My heart constricts at the expression on his face. He has no hope for himself, so I have to hope for him.
“You’re not a monster,” I argue softly. “You’re a man, Luca. A man like any other, you’re made of blood and bone.”

As a little boy, Luca Minaldi was told he was a monster.
As an adult, he knows it is true.

He lives in Malta, a fairytale-like place
filled with sunshine and sea, beauty and secrets. And Luca’s darkest of secrets is the best kept of them all.

Eva Talbot is spending the summer in Malta to finish up her
doctoral dissertation. When she meets Luca, a mysterious and handsome shipping tycoon, there is an instant attraction, a disturbing and beautiful energy that she has never felt before. But she senses the darkness that lives within him.

Eva is hired to care for his mother, who suffers from dementia, but it is Luca who Eva will eventually risk everything to save. Her life becomes a swirling chaos of darkness and romance, of secrets and mystery. And the question that emerges will become the most important answer of all.

Can she save Luca from the darkness that plagues him without losing herself?

The answer is a matter of life or death.

So Courtney Cole is another one of my favorite authors, seriously if you guys haven’t read any of her books you are clearly missing out! This book is a little more adult than her normal YA and I think I love it that much more because of it. To check out the backstory of this book be sure to check out her blog!
So just reading the synopsis, you would think it’s paranormal, reading it you would think it’s paranormal, that is until you get towards the end and then you’re going to be like OMG! Ok but before I get ahead of myself some characters need to be introduced! So there is Evangeline “Eva” Talbot, who came to Malta to work on her dissertation. Waking up in the middle of the night because of a spider screams and the very hot, secretive Luca Minaldi comes to her rescue.  Luca is like royalty to Malta, and he is very, very secretive. Then there is Adrian, sigh, keep your eye on him. It’s sad because I really liked Adrian now well, I’ll just say betrayal is a bia!

So with that being said, there are some killings going on in Malta. Luca’s mother is a handful and Eva helps her out for Luca. Then there’s the undeniable attraction between Luca and Eva. When Eva finds a dead body, Luca wants to keep her safe, so she moves in to the estate with him. Luca is keeping a secret. Is Eva really safe though?

This book is so amazing. Luca is super sexy and I seriously cannot wait for the next book in this series!

At first I was not sure WHAT this book was going to be because I read the exerpt and thought... it sounds paranormal, but I was told it wasn't.  Then I started to read the book and was like "ARE YOU SURE it's NOT"? I was wrong!!!  Eva Goes to Malta to work on her dissertation. She has been there before and LOVES the city.  She has a way of reading people after she meets them. She meets the very wealthy Luca Minaldi and things start to change.  There are murders of young women going on in Malta and many caution Eva to be careful.  When Eva encounters a Dead girls body on the beach, Luca invites her to stay with him.  But he isn't sure that is the best idea but he wants to keep her safe.  See Luca has something strange that happens to him that he can not control.  Can Eva help him?  Read to find out.  I loved this book and LOVED Luca.  Poor guy is sweet and tormented. I however DO NOT like Adrian, read to find out why. I bet you don't either.
