Stubborn Love Blog Stop

Madison Says Blog Tour

Even a broken heart has trouble resisting a Stubborn Love.

Emmie Hayes loved the beautiful Ashton Stirling deeply; nobody could deny that. She had given him her youth, and all he gave in return was misery and pain. She was ready for a new beginning, but Ashton wasn’t about to let her go so easily, even if it meant destroying both their lives in the process.

Three years later Emmie convinces herself she is ready to leave all of that heartbreak in the past and find a little piece of normal for herself. She heads to New York City to pick up where she left off, determined to finish art school. Emmie is determined to focus on school and not let anything distract her, but life has a way of throwing curveballs.

Paige, Emmie’s new roommate, brings Colin Bennett into her life. His smoldering eyes and lean muscular body are difficult for any girl to ignore. Only thing is, Emmie isn’t any girl. Her past makes her resistant to his charms. Colin isn’t one to give up easily, and just when he thinks he may have found a way to her stubborn heart, her tragic history may have found a way to tear them apart.

This is the first book I’ve read of Wendy Owens and it happens to be her first NA book as well. WIN WIN. I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in about 3 hrs. I’ve been sick and haven’t really been in the mood to read because I feel like I can’t write a review to do the book justice. So bear with me if I seem to ramble on, it’s the cold meds lol.

So Stubborn Love is about Clementine, Emmie, and how she comes to be who she is now. She always had dreams to go to a college in NY to perfect her art. However, meeting a guy in high school changes everything… and not for the better. Ashton is privileged and with that comes a need to control. He’s learned how to manipulate Emmie and so of course she stays around. That is until one day she decides to call him on his bluff… everything changes.

Moving away with her mother she begins painting again and taking a few correspondences classes. She even begins selling some of her paintings and she’s doing really well for someone of her age. Applying to 2 colleges in NY, Emmie is finally getting the future she dreamed about. Part of me loves that Emmie is trying to move on in her life. Part of me hates what happened to her. But we all have issues we have to face in life, it either makes us stronger or it hinders us. The thing is to take the good with the bad and learn from it. Emmie is now in NY and finding a place is a nightmare that is until she meets Paige.

“I was not going to let my tragedy define me. I was doing this for me.”

Paige is absolutely amazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE her and her attitude. My mom is from the Bronx and they have this New York attitude that I think is absolutely awesome. Something about a person who will tell you exactly what’s on their mind. Love that, I think if more people said what they thought, there would be less confusion. Anyways, Paige offers Emmie a room in her “flat” that’s really a 2 bedroom apartment. This is where things take off. Going to meet Paige, Emmie walks into a rundown warehouse that houses one of the most gorgeous guys she has ever seen. Colin.

“I see you, baby, all of you, so please, let me at least try.”-Colin

Dear lord Colin is beyond sexy. He’s the ideal boyfriend. His outer appearance is spectacular but it’s the inside that matters. Though Colin comes off as a douche at first, he’s not what he seems. But does Emmie give him the chance to prove it to her that he’s not what she thinks? Can Emmie let go of her past to maybe have more of a future than what she thought she wanted? Will Colin be able to look past the secret she keeps?

This book is absolutely written beautifully. Like the brushstrokes that make up a paintings finished product, Wendy Owens adds dimension to each character forming a well-rounded novel. The problems in this story are real, the characters are real, and the emotions are real. Reading Emmie’s story is a must. It gives hope to those who don’t believe they deserve it, hope to try for something better, and to sometimes surrender to love even when you don’t think you deserve it.

When Dani passed me this book for us to review I was excited because it sounded interesting. I was in love with it as soon as I met Colin.  Well okay let me take that back. Till I met Paige! But first let me take you back.  The book starts with Emmie (Clementine) and her story about marrying the love of her life, Ashton,  She moved in with him and his family who were very well off. Their relationship was not the best.  She gave up everything, school and what not to be what he wanted.  Ashton was not the ideal.  She threatened to leave him and then her world blew up!
Emmie moved away with her mom to start a new life.  When she was ready she moved to a school in New York, where she had to find housing.  This was a HUGE change from what she was used to.  Bring in PAIGE!  Love this girl.  She is so funny. Wendy Owens created such a funny character in Paige.  Paige invites Emmie to view her loft.  Well Were she ends up is not Paige's place but her boyfriends.  Emmie meets Colin!  OH MY WORD!  At first he is rude.  Emmie is put off and angry by him.  She soon learns that he dated Paige's former roommate and that it did not end well.  They set ground rules that she would not do that.  Well she cant help it if COLIN is the one attracted!  Emmie is set on not dating but when a guy at school approaches her she goes on one.  AND WOW that was a mistake.  He is NOT who he says he is and is out to cause her trouble.
When Colin makes his move, and Paige encourages Emmie to Take a shot she does.  Can she let go of her guilt with Ashton and find love with Colin?  You have to read this story to find out.  Colin is just AMAZING.  I fell in love with him.  Wendy Owens has created the next hot boy boyfriend!  Give Stubborn Love a chance! I am so glad I did! It was a great read!

Maven Blog Tour Stop

How far would you go for love?

Since losing her parents at 14, young prodigy Dr. Lydia Ashley has focused on one thing: an appointment on the Deep Water Research Command Endure. Now 21, she’s about to realize that dream, but nothing is how she imagined it would be. Her transitional sponsor forgets her, her new lab is in complete chaos, and, as if that weren’t enough, she’s about to discover something so horrific it could potentially destroy all life on the planet.

Daniel Brewer, a noted playboy and genius in his own right, may be exactly what she needs… Or he may make everything worse.

Has she finally found a puzzle she can’t solve?

I got interested in this book when I did the cover reveal of it on our blog. I mean the cover is gorgeous and the synopsis is intriguing. I was a little put off with it being SciFi but I thought what the hell, I need to expand my range a little.  SO DAMN GLAD I DID! Seriously, I had to literally stop myself from reading so I could sleep, being hit in the face with your kindle fire 10 times isn’t fun. But this book was beyond awesome and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

So whats it about right? Lydia Ashley, Dr. Lydia Ashley is genius and when her dream of being part of the Endure comes to life, there’s nowhere else she rather be. Of course the perks of meeting Daniel Brewer might be an influence on her decision, but when he failed to make a good first impression, Lydia was disappointed. Determined to get her department organized and running, she has to work with Daniel to create software to organize data to where its accessible. What Daniel creates is beyond her expectations.

Daniel Brewer is the resident playboy on the Endure and has reputation a mile long. Being late to meet Dr. Ashley has already put a wall up between him and her. Checking her out in front of her doesn’t help his case… at all. He hasn’t met someone to disregard his charms as easily as Dr. Ashley is doing, determined to change her mind about him, he changes his course of action. Instead of flirting with her, he puts his focus into his job, changing his life for something better. When that starts catching her eye, it only fuels his passion of his work.

Then files are found that look incriminating and disastrous. Working closer together to figure out just what was going on in before Lydia got there, Daniel and her set off on research. What the stumble upon is nothing short of life changing… for everyone. Not sure who to trust, Lydia and Daniel talk to the captain, Daniel’s father, and more research is done. Nothing comes without a price and sometimes trying to avoid feelings only intensify them. The chemistry between Daniel and Lydia is beyond explosive and one night changes everything. Literally.

So what did Lydia and Daniel discover? Can they stop it? Does it go deeper into what they thought and is there a way to prove it all? Stumbling upon something that wasn’t meant to be found can have some serious consequences, what will they be? Can they figure everything out in time or will they be too late?
Starla writes beautifully, even with the science to anyone who’s not familiar with it, you don’t feel confused like your missing something. It leaves you intrigued and wanting more. Especially when it comes to Daniel. I love how she alternates POV throughout the book. You get a feel for both aspects since Daniel is tech geek while Lydia is the science geek. I absolutely loved this book and hope the next one will be out soon because I cannot wait to see what happens next. I have so many questions, some that were answered and some that spurred on new questions. YOU HAVE to read this book! If you’re not usually a Science Fiction Romance reader, take the chance. You won’t be disappointed!
<3 Dani

I was introduced to Maven and Starla Huchton, through Dani.  I was behind in my reading and knew that I had a bit of time to get the book.  I was excited to join the blog tour well because I love supporting authors with these tours.  So I put aside a few books and started reading.  Dani said it was so good so I knew I was in for a treat.

Starla Hutchon has started a series that is phenomenal! Maven has a mixture of futuristic science and an adorable romance all in one.  Lydia Ashley is a young Dr (21 !! ) who has been hired on board the Endure.  She is so excited because she has dreamed of meeting Daniel Brewer, the Captain’s son and also a genius.  She has put him on a pedestal. Their first meeting isn’t what she expected and she was let down.  She is in charge of getting a lab back in order and doing so causes her to work with him.  She finds out what a genius he is and sometimes first impressions don’t always ring true.

Daniel Brewer is known on the ship as playboy.  He has been around with a few girls and being with one has made him late in meeting the important Dr. Ashely.  He sees that she is put off by him and it is discouraging to him.  He tries his best to get on her good side with the program he creates for her lab.

Moving past rumors and working together brings them closer.  When an ambassadors ball comes into play and they two dance, sparks ignite and they are inseparable.  I found their relationship, adorable.  While working Lydia finds some interesting evidence and investigates, and what she finds is scary.  With Daniel’s help can they figure out who on the ship is working for “the bad guy?”

Starla created a great story and I am absolutely in love with all the characters aboard the Endure.  I recommend you start this book now!

Playing for Keeps - Book Blitz and Review

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes the second book in The Game series, and the story everyone wanted after The Love Game…

She's in love with him.
He's trying not to love her.
One night changes everything.

Aston Banks never meant to get close to Megan Harper – not even for that one night. Haunted by a childhood he refuses to face, he knew she could break through every wall he’d ever built and tear them down without even realising she was doing it.

Betraying Braden by starting a relationship with Aston wasn’t on Megan’s to-do list, but the second she sees a glimpse of someone other than the arrogant ass she’s come to know, she can’t walk away.

Aston’s childhood is worse than Megan ever guessed, but as he tries and fails to push her away, it’s clear her love is stronger than the demons that cling to him every day. And now, because of it, he finally has to deal with what he’s buried deep down.

What he doesn’t want to face. What he’s fought against for so long.

And they have to do it all without Braden finding out.

Keeping a relationship secret has never been harder.

**This book can be read as a standalone novel, but reading The Love Game (The Game, #1) beforehand is advised.**

Playing for Keeps Review :

I will say that as much as I love The Love Game and Braden I absolutely LOVED Aston and Playing for Keeps.  I think that Emma Hart will have Aston running over Braden in the charts with this book.
Aston is a player, wants one girl, one time and moves on.  Megan has been secretly in love with Aston but has pretended to hate him.  She knows he is off limits because Braden would never want her to be with Aston, even though he is Braden's best friend. When Braden and Maddie leave town, and it takes ONE night for Megan to put that all aside and approach Aston.  That is all it takes.  They can't get enough of each other.  Can you say HOT???? I think I needed a cold shower after.
After they get together they must pretend that they "fight" like always.  Megan's friends seem to know something us up all but Braden.  I laughed because, he was so clueless.
Emma created such a back story for Aston that had me in tears and wanting to hug him. YOU MUST read this book.  My opinion of Aston changed in that instant and all I wanted was for everyone to leave him and Megan alone.  He NEEDS HER.  I found it EPIC when the cat was out of the bag about their feelings for each other.  Braden's reaction was well..... you should read it.  My favorite part is the trip they take to Palm Springs.  I GREW up there and I loved that Emma put my home town in the book.
Should you have a cold drink and a cold shower with this book? Yes! Should you read THE LOVE GAME before this book?  I think so but I am a tad biased because I want you to get the WHOLE experience! So get your copy today and fall in LOVE with Aston and Megan's Story!

OMG ISN'T THAT FAB!!!?? are you ready for a little taste?  Here's what Dani shared with us

Excerpt
I’m staring at myself in the mirror of my bathroom. It’s 3 am and I’m fighting with my reflection. Each part of me is demanding to be brought to the surface. The one looking at me is the girl I used to be. She’s begging to be let out, to be more than a reflection. Then there’s me, the one in the here and now. The damaged one looking to take over completely. Fighting. Always fighting, it’s like a never ending battle raging within myself and I can’t stop it. I don’t know how to stop it, I don’t know if I want to. It’s a constant reminder that this is the path I chose. The path so off course that I don’t know if I can ever return to the original one. I didn’t leave bread crumbs like Hansel and Gretel, although those didn’t work out well with them either.
I walk out of the bathroom and go to the bookcase to look for a book. I can see I’m not going to be going back to bed anytime soon, I might as well do something productive. Trying to do something to get my mind off of the war ragging within. Running my fingers over the bindings of the books, head tilted to the right reading the spines, when I come to this worn blue book. It looks completely out of place from the others. Were they look new, you can tell this one is old. It has no writing on the spine, so I pull it out to see what it is. Inscribed on the front in the most beautiful cursive I have ever seen is the word Divinity. Completely intrigued by what this book is about I head over to the lamp by the bean bag, turn it on, and collapse into the bean bag.
Page after page of information on destiny and the paths we are on. Different people’s takes on fate and whether they believe that we are all destined for a certain path. There was a story about how this girl didn’t believe she would ever get back to her given path, her destiny is what she called it. After years of working to right the wrong she’s done in the past, she finally believed she was on her predestined path and was finally happy. I close the book after her story to think about what I’ve read. If they’re right and we are destined for something, what the hell could I be destined for? How can this be the life laid out for me by the fates? The weavers of
life. I guess they have a sick sense of humor. They pick people out to have issues to keep themselves entertained.
What if the book holds truth? Can I be like that girl? Maybe I was on the right path up until everything happened and I’ve been deviating ever since. Is there a way to get back to that? To free the girl trapped in the mirror? But if she’s free where would the present me go, into the mirror, or is there a way to merge the two? Maybe accepting all that I’ve done for what it was will be the key to becoming me again.

EEEEEP!!! Please tell me you are wanting more! You can add it to goodreads

OMG I'm telling you Scarlett Metal knows how to write one damn steamy book. I've been reading so much this past week that I decided I was going to take a mini vacation on the reading front. Well, today was a hell of a day and so I decided to put on a face mask and grab a short book to read. I'm looking through my kindle and see Finally pop up.

SCORE! Totally forgot I had it and immediately dived it and LOVE LOVE LOVED it. The chemistry Lauren and Marcus has is being sizzling and had me slightly jealous and wishing I had that with someone. It's deeper that sexual attraction, though they do have some hot sex. Seriously the sex is banging, pun intended, you're definitely going to need a cold shower after!

One of the reasons I like reading Scarlett's books is because its real. It's like you are the fly in the room as the story plays out. It's so real that the tension is think in the air around you and when Lauren and Marcus talk about each other you see and feel that connection they have. Especially when they doubt how the other feels about the other. It's amazing to see Marcus go from his party boy image to truly caring about Lauren. It's not just a fling for him, nor is it for Lauren, but seeing them come to that realization is awesome and awe inspiring.

The thing that holds them both back is that they don't live in the same city... is that going to stop them from falling for each other? Will Marcus walk away from Lauren? Will Lauren finally use her voice and speak up? Check it out to see what happens! Oh and be prepared because this is only the beginning of Lauren and Marcus's story... there's more to come for them and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
<3 Dani

Having read all of Scarlett's books so far I was excited when Dani passed this one on to me.  I was having trouble diving into other books and decided this one could spur me on.  OH BOY DID IT.
Lauren and Marcus work for the same company but in different cities.  Having met once in Denver where Marcus is, Lauren and Marcus had an instant attraction. Lauren having broken up with her fiance is looking forward to the business meeting that will bring Marcus to Chicago! When they see each other for the first time the chemistry Sizzles off the pages!
Marcus is used to wild one nights and not making attachments but after seeing Lauren he seems to be making a change.  When they meet up its like fire! What will happen after those few short days?  Will it be a fling or more?  Can Marcus walk away?
This was one sweet and hot book.  And I heard was the beginning of their story!  Can't wait to find out more!

Watching Her

Lizzie always played it safe in life with her job in corporate accounting and her boring boyfriends. Frustrated one night while working late at the coffee shop, she meets Brett. He's different than any guys she's ever dated and on a whim, she agrees to go out with him. Brett has a kink he later reveals to Lizzie that helps her become the woman she was always meant to be.

Contains strong language and sexual situations. Intended for adults over 18.

Buy on
Amazon

So Scarlett has definitely done it again, but in a different way. I'm not usually a fan of  'watching' someone,
especially if it's someone I love with someone else. But hey to each is own and this book sizzles with sexy.

Hot club encounters, public exploits in cabs, and a romp with the sexy friend? Watching Her is definitely packed with steamy sex that will leave you needing a cold shower.

I wish there was more to the story. I feel like Lizzie and Brett needed more to their story. After reading Naughty Girl and I Remember You, I felt a little disappointed that there wasn't more to this book.

They meet, go on dates and have incredible sex. Brett releases Lizzie in a way she didn't realize she needed to be released. She let her guard down with Brett and she began a life she didn't realize she was missing. Taking risks and engaging in fantasies, I hope to see more of their story later on.

Watching Her is a short, about 56 pages packed full of desire. I have to admit I wouldn't mind running into Brett, hell he can tatt me up any day!  :)

<3 Dani

Another short quick sexy read by Scarlett Metal.  Lizzie is stuck in a job that keeps her too late and a boss that is too demanding with work.  While having coffee Brett walks in, sits next to her and asks her for a date.  HOLY COW..... it burns up from there.

Their sex is everywhere and hot.  And Brett loves to watch Lizzie come apart.  From night clubs to watching her with a few others.... this book steamed my glasses.  And Brett is a tattoo artist..... ya.... I need one, is he available  for the tat?   Super short read and I wish it were longer!!

I Remember You

Lance never got over his teenage love despite years of trying to forget her with alcohol, music, and other women.

Samantha dated lots of different guys after Lance, guys most girls would love to have even a chance with. No one can make her happy though; she compares them all to Lance.

Fate brings them together when Lance is in town for some family business. They end up spending a passionate night together but can they be more? Can they finally find their happily ever after?

Contains adult situations and language. Appropriate for ages 18+.

Buy on Amazon

So I’m absolutely in love with the short sexy reads Scarlett Metal writes! Seriously can’t get enough of them. I Remember You, LOVED it seriously! The way she writes is unbelievable. You FEEL the emotion emanating of the characters like its happening to you, well at least that’s how I feel.

So I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book in the beginning, *sigh* I know you’re probably like wtf right? Well I hate when certain things breaks up people and when those ‘type’ of girls are the cause. You know the ones I’m talking about. The ones who will say shit just to make drama. Granted in the situation it could be true, but come on really?

So about the book right? Well It’s told from alternating POVs, which I love because I always wonder what the male MC is feeling or thinking. So its awesome when I’m able to see into that.  Lance and Samantha were together a few years with their ups and downs. They started dating really young but they both knew they were it for each other. Until one night when Nicole (that ‘type’ girl), and ex of Lance’s decided to bring down the house of cards. To say that I didn’t know it before I read it would be lying. It was a feeling I got as soon as her character was introduced. It broke Sam’s heart and though Lance tried to tell her it didn’t matter that he loved her, Sam couldn’t deal and so they went their separate ways.

Ten Years later fate intervened. Seeing each other after all that time brought up those emotions that they thought they’ve hidden well. Emotions they thought they were completely over, but you never forget your first love, especially when that love is the ONE. So what happens? Lance is a rock star guitarist who has a band and a new life in LA. Sam is a writer who just broke it off with her finance. Will they spend a few days of hot, sexy, down right toe curling sex and then say goodbye again or will they fight for the forever they should have had?

Scarlett Metal wrote and amazing short read that had me upset with Sam, crying for Lance, and smiling with joy at the end. The epilogue is perfection. 75 pages of absolute LOVE and I can honestly say I would definitely re-read this book when I need a pick me up!

<3 Dani

So Dani found us this cute little read. I loved it! At first I was like oh man noooooooo emotional book, but in a good way.

When Sam and Lance were together in HS they were so in love. But someone from Lance's past came and messed it all up.

Years later they run into each other and the feelings are still there strong as ever. They could never find that happiness and peace with someone else. With Lance as a rock star , Sam goes to his show, they kiss and instant lust and holy cow. Can they rekindle what they had? This story was sexy -?: super cute!
