One Tiny Secret

**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for 17+ due to language, violence, and sexual content.

Just one tiny secret has the potential to ruin everything.

Being the daughter of the sheriff in a small town like Holden Ridge means that eighteen-year-old Danielle "Dani" Marks' life is under constant surveillance. She's made a habit of staying under the radar by being a floater among social circles at school, which has kept her out of trouble--until now.

After a missing persons case stirs up the entire town, Dani finds herself caught right in the middle of the scandal. When she's labeled a possible suspect, things quickly go from bad to worse. The sudden return of her old flame, Parker Reed, manages to make her whole situation even more complicated.

When an elusive unknown person begins to blackmail Dani by threatening to reveal her deepest secrets, Dani refuses to play along. That is, until the person's actions take a violent turn. Holden Ridge loses its sense of quaint town security, and Dani is caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Who can she trust when anyone around her could be a suspect?

One thing's for certain though: Never underestimate the power of one tiny secret.

So I’ve been in a reading frenzy this weekend. Maybe it’s because I’ve had my boys the last four days and while they played I was able to escape the real world into the world of fantasy characters that become real. Characters so real that I literally was biting my nails and saying “no way, no FREAKNG way!” Of course you know what book I’m talking about because, well I’m posting my review under it obviously, but when I say I was absolutely shocked, it’s not an understatement. I’m usually pretty good at figuring out how books end but Adam Kunz you had me at the edge of my seat the entire time and questioning everyone.

When I started One Tiny Secret, I knew it was going to be a great book. I mean the title alone has you wondering what the secret is. So I dived in and didn’t come up for air until I was finished. I had my suspicion about a few people and what was going on, but I never came to the conclusion that the book did. I was floored. Literally floored and amazed that I was 100% wrong in my predictions. So kudos for that Adam! So you’re probably wondering what happened and who these characters are right? Well first I have to say I love the main MC, one for her name being Danielle and going by Dani. Us Dani’s have to stick together. Two because well she’s just a kick ass MC. We get introduced into the story with Dani designing a flyer for a super-secret party that’s not really happening if you get questioned.

Then everything in Dani’s life is about to change. It all starts with this Halloween party. So what happens at the party? Well you’ll have to read that to find out, but I will tell you that a boy, a hot boy, a boy that broke Dani’s heart comes back. It also happens to be the beginning of the Unknown texts Dani gets. So who’s friend and who’s foe? With Parker back and Dani not being sure were her feelings stands with him, can they get past their past to figure out who’s to get Dani before it’s too late? Will Dani and Parker have a future? And who’s the infamous Unknown that’s determined to destroy Dani and the people she cares about and what’s the motive?

I cannot wait to see what else Adam Kunz comes out with next and I’m so intrigued by this book that I will definitely be picking up the other books he wrote alongside his mom to see how amazingly awesome they are. His writing is amazing, the details are perfect and each word is pact with enough emotion that will have you being jumpy along-side Dani. I just became a fan of Adam Kunz, so you need to go pick this book up right now if you haven’t and start reading its awesomeness.

Adam Kunz is the A part of the mother and son author duo C.A. Kunz. Growing up, he always had a fondness for R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. So, it was a no brainer when he decided to write his own novel that it'd be a thrilling mystery with a dash of horror, and some romance thrown in for good measure. When he's not busy writing, Adam enjoys his job at a theme park in Orlando, Florida as a décor consultant. This job brings him face to face with all sorts of nightmarish creatures, especially when he decorates the haunted houses for the park's annual Halloween event. It's been said by many that his addiction to Starbucks coffee will most likely be his downfall later in life

To My Hero- Guest Review by Heather

It would’ve been different if I had courage, even an ounce of it. But I was a coward from the day I met you, Ryan Crowley. I still am. In the end it doesn’t matter. The bottom line is the same. It’s my fault.

When the unthinkable happens Carly Cavanough is left beaten, betrayed, and devastated. Her best friend doesn’t understand. Her parents won’t listen. Everyone in her life turns against her. She’s alone. Completely alone, except for Ryan Crowley, the boy she’s been crushing on for years. She won’t admit to him what she can’t admit to herself. But he understands without words. He knows more about what she’s going through than she can possibly imagine and he knows what it will take to start the healing.

With Ryan’s help Carly begins to piece together the fragments of her once perfect life and embarks on a journey of love and healing, just long enough for the rug to be pulled out from under her again. Can she find the strength and will to pull herself together to save Ryan and herself when their lives are on the line?

So we have a treat for you today, the lovely Heather (@Javalotta) is gracing our page with her amazing review of this beyond words book. So I'm not going to get all gushy and say how amazing Heather is, so here's her review. Be sure to send her some love on twitter!

Prepare to be immediately sucked into Carly and Ryan's story. (No spoilers.) Once I started this book, I could not put it down. I have no direct personal experience with this subject matter but, in my opinion, Danielle handled it beautifully capturing the range of emotions without resorting to cliche melodrama or predictable plot lines

This book will make you experience many strong emotions, both positive and some very negative. Depending on your life experience, this may be a more difficult read for some, but it is well worth the journey to the story's conclusion. I loved Ryan! He has his flaws and isn't "too perfect," but he's pretty darn close to it. Carly will frustrate you at times, but you understand that she's doing the best she can to work through her ordeal one step at a time and that her progress toward recovery won't come until she is ready to fully handle what's happened.

For me this was not a predictable read. I felt the story was creative and engaging. It was perfectly paced and fully held my attention to the very end (which I loved!) I highly recommend this book. It's a difficult yet beautiful love story. But when you finish it, you will have a new favorite as well as a book crush on Ryan! I love Danielle's books but I feel she really outdid herself with this one. Don't let the topic deter you. I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to "tough issue" books and I absolutely loved this one. I hope you will try it and enjoy it as much as I did.:)

Sometimes the one who broke your heart, needs the most saving.

Piper Sandervale never thought she’d see Sasha Koval ever again. Not since he took her heart, ripped it out and obliterated it from existence. Now, six years have passed and she has run into him once more at the local fairgrounds in Las Vegas. He desperately wants another chance, and he’d do anything to get her back. She’s willing to give him a taste of his own medicine, if this is her chance for payback. But, will she find herself way in over her head?

Something has changed with Sasha and Piper struggles to justify the worth of past hurts to continue her quest for atonement.

Who needs saving now?

Excerpt

“I have tickets for a comedy show. How about it?” He reached out, gripping my hand again. Glancing down at his fingers as they laced through mine, a soft flutter in my chest made me forget to breathe momentarily. He still had it, his paralyzing charm, I mean.

“Um, yeah. Sounds great.” I forced a smile as I sucked in a breath. I hoped and prayed I wasn’t making a mistake. I had to remember to be the first to run this time.

Yep, I’ll reel him in and then run out the door so fast, he won’t even know what hit him.

So my plan to break his heart was in motion as he softly tugged at my hand, pulling me towards the front doors of the Bellagio. Making it to the sidewalk, he led me to the Taxi line and hailed one. I was curious where he was taking me to, but my mouth was dry as a desert, which tasted of lemon cherry sorbet. My self-doubt was already creeping into my mind before I’d even had a chance to douse it.

“You alright?”

His voice pulled me back to the present as we slipped into the back of the Taxi cab. He scooted in after me and instructed to the cabbie our destination. Hugging my arms in the cold of the AC blasting from the vents, Sasha slipped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer. Frozen, I wasn’t sure what to do. Relax, relax, I kept telling myself. The entire plan would be ruined if I didn’t loosen up. He might even see through my ruse if I wasn’t careful.

That wasn’t something I could afford to let happen.

Review

So I stumbled upon Alexia Purdy when I was looking through the Facebook page for UTopYA Con and noticed she lived here in Las Vegas. Then when I realized she was an author, I went out and picked up all her books. Being backlogged with reviews, beta reads, and trying to write as well as play with my 3 kiddos, I haven’t been able to read any of the books…yet! This Memorial Day weekend had me in a reading mood so I started picking books out of my kindle to read and then remembered I had an ARC to read of Breathe Me. Needless to say I was so damn excited that I dropped everything I was doing, literally, and locked myself in the room for about 3 hours until I read the entire book. LOVED it! Seriously LOVED it. It has me wondering if it’s going to be a series though. I hope so because I could definitely go for some more Sasha and Piper.

So about the story, I mean that’s what a review is all about right? Haha Ok so Piper and Sasha dated when they were in college and after a horrible break up, they went their separate ways. Piper is now in a career, seeming to be content with her life. Well that is until she’s at the fair with her cousin Joss and Joss’s little girl Leah. It has to be the Ferris wheel. I mean it couldn’t be the roller coasters right? I’m with Piper on this one. I freak out about the Ferris wheel, not only because our shared fear of heights, but when you get stuck at the top and you never feel like you’re going to come down. Yeah, I pass.  But this is where Sasha re-enters her life. Oozing the same charm he had in college has Piper on edge… and then he goes and says something that has Piper speechless.

Like everything, there’s two sides to each story. Alexia does a wonderful job in keeping true to the characters and piecing everything together. She gives the information just when you’re confused and has you going ‘OH!’ that’s what happened. I have to admit I love Sasha. I mean how could you not? He’s not the same way he was in college and the view Piper has of him isn’t completely accurate, I mean it has been 6 years, people do change. And boy has Sasha changed. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to gain Piper’s trust, to gain her love back… but can he?

Some unknown factors come into play, but I think they ended up helping the situation and adding to the depth of the characters, rather than take away from it. Feels of betrayal come into play, urgency to prevent being taken away from Piper, and an accident that changes everyone’s life. Can Sasha convince Piper to give him a second chance? Is Piper willing to let go of the past to have the future she always dreamt about? Will love be enough even if your countries apart? Breathe Me is a beautiful read that will have your emotions all over the place. Alexia Purdy is a new favorite author of mine.

It would’ve been different if I had courage, even an ounce of it. But I was a coward from the day I met you, Ryan Crowley. I still am. In the end it doesn’t matter. The bottom line is the same. It’s my fault.

What can I say but that this was the most moving book that I have read in a long time! Danielle Sibarium grabs you from the first page of this book.  This book is written as a blog that Carly writes to Ryan.  It is written in first person and its like reading someone's blog post or diary.  I LOVED IT.  I loved reading Carly's feelings for Ryan and reading about her interactions with him.  They started out friends and Carly did like Ryan but miscommunication has them not together and with separate people.  When they get to talk at a party you find out what a jerk Carly's boyfriend Will is.  He attacks her out of jealousy. Ryan is the one who helps her out.  All he wants is her.  I couldn't help but fall in lover with the character of Ryan Crowley.  He wants her and loves Carly so much that he gives everything to help her.  When Carly's parents are UNBEARABLE, he still finds a way to make her smile.  I was stuck in this book for a whole day.  I did not want to put it down.  Carly and Ryan sucked me right in.  With Carly and Ryan together you would think that the worst was over.  That isn't the case.  With Will, her Parents and an Ex of Ryan's in the mix to cause them trouble, can Carly trust her love for Ryan and his for her?  When they are put under extreme pressure what will she do?  This story was so powerful you MUST experience it for yourself.  I want to read it over again.  It was the most amazing book I have read in a LONG time! I really want to say more but I would give you EVERYTHING.  Pick it up, read it and fall in love with Ryan and Carly's story.
