Entangled Embrace Blog Tour - Sneaking Candy - Reviews

All I ever wanted was to make a name for myself as Candice Salinas, creative writing grad student at the University of Miami. Of course, secretly I already have made a name for myself: as Candy Sloane, self-published erotic romance writer. Though thrilled that my books are selling and I have actual fans, if anyone at UM found out, I could lose my scholarship…and the respect of my faculty advisor, grade-A-asshole Professor Dylan.

Enter James Walker, super-hot local barista and—surprise!—my student. Even though I know a relationship is totally off-limits, I can’t stop myself from sneaking around with James, taking a few cues from my own erotic writing…if you catch my drift. Candy’s showing her stripes for the first time in my real life, and I’ve never had so much fun. But when the sugar high fades, can my secrets stay under wraps?

When I first started this book I immediately knew I was going to love it. Presumptuous much? Definitely. I usually get a feel for a book within the first couple of pages and Sneaking Candy definitely grabbed my attention. So much so that I was up till 4am reading the book until it was finished. I still find myself going back to the book from time to time, in between breaks at work, a browse at lunch, and I’m not tired of it.

Candice is a creative writing student who’s attracted to her Professor, her mentor. I mean that happens right? Spending all that time perfecting your skills it’s bound to happen… or not happen. So Professor Dylan caught Candice’s eye but so has another guy…James, a barista that she sees often… when she gets coffee to ogle the guy of course. But Candice has a secret that no one but her best friend and roommate can know. It could jeopardize everything, not to mention Professor Dylan would be livid. So what’s the secret? Well Candice can also be referred toCandy Sloane the indie author. You see Professor Dylan, among many others in this book, would frown upon Candy. The thing is, that touches home with this book, is that its actually happening. There are so many ‘traditional’ authors that frown upon indie authors. Does it make it right? No. Is it wrong? Maybe. It shouldn’t matter how a book is published, a story told is a story told. How it’s put out on the shelf shouldn’t make a difference but it does and Candice knows this so she tries to keep it a secret.

“James wore a white T-shirt like it was his bitch.”

Then there’s James. The hottie that Candice took a chance on. The boy is beyond yummy and totally off limits… or is he? What happens when the rolls are reversed? Candice is a TA and when she finds out who the start student Professor Dylan was going on and on about, the last person she thought it was going to be was James. Oh the fates! After one drunk night can Candice keep herself in check, can James deal with the fact that they can’t be anything more than colleagues… friends? What happens when lines get crossed and a secret is found out? What will Candice do? What happens with Candice and James? Professor Dylan? Who will come out on top? You need to read this book, I absolutely recommend it! Lisa Burstein did an amazing job on this book and I can’t wait to check out more of her books. I want more of Candice and James!

I was completely thrown into this book.  Candice Salinas is a graduate student for creative writing and she is working under a professor who she kinda has the hots for.  Well She learns quickly that he is a grade A ass! She is supposed to teach students and do discussion groups.  He is very particular! Candice also loves going to the local coffee shop where she loves looking at James the barista! He seems to be her muse for her secret writing project.  See she has made a name for herself in the NA writing industry.  She's Candy Sloane.  And come to find out her professor Dylan HATES those kinds of writers.  So she tries to keep it a HUGE secret!
Candice decides to let "Candy" out and try to date James.  Only a few days later to find out that he is one of her students AND a super excellent writer.  She tries to keep James just friends but there attraction is too strong.  And I must say that James is amazing! Can they have a relationship?  And can Candice keep CANDY under wraps?  You won't believe the asshole moves the professor makes!!
Overall I loved this book.  I would love to have more of Candice and her Roomate Amanda.  And even more Candice and James.  I recommend picking this up right away!
