 EXCERPT:

Glancing up, I suck my breath in when I find dark eyes connected to mine, eyes so dark they’re almost black, and the energy in them is enough to freeze me in place. A boy is attached to the dark gaze. A man. He’s probably no more than twenty or twenty-one, but everything about him screams man. There’s no boy in him. That part of him is very clearly gone. I see it in his eyes, in the way he holds himself, in the perceptive way he takes in his surroundings, then stares at me with singular focus, like we’re somehow connected by a tether. He’s got a million contradictions in his eyes....aloofness, warmth, mystery, charm, and something else I can’t define. He’s muscular, tall, and wearing a tattered black sweatshirt that says Irony is lost on you in orange letters. His dark jeans are belted with black leather, and a silver band encircles his middle finger. Dark hair tumbles into his face and a hand with long fingers impatiently brushes it back, all the while his eyes are still connected with mine. His jaw is strong and masculine, with the barest hint of stubble. His gaze is still connected to mine, like a livewire, or a lightning bolt. I can feel the charge of it racing along my skin, like a million tiny fingers, flushing my cheeks. My lungs flutter and I swallow hard. And then, he smiles at me. At me. Because I don’t know him and he doesn’t know better.

Reading the teasers from Courtney Cole’s NOCTE had my mind going crazy. I was immediately intrigued by them, that I had to know what the secret could be. The mystery behind Calla, Finn, and Dare kept me captivated from the first moment I started reading and they still hold me captive after reading their beginning a week ago.

I have never and I mean NEVER been so blown away by the twists and turns Courtney took me on in this book. It was seriously a mind exploding experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering how the hell someone could write something so amazingly beautifully complex. I’m not going to dive into the story that much because, well frankly you have to read it for yourself. I hate SPOILERS and this book is one that needs to be read in mystery. It gives you that much more satisfaction not knowing what is going to come
next.

Reading lately has been difficult for me with working and spending time with my kiddos, so finding time to read has to be creative. I finished NOCTE sitting outside my kids school waiting to pick them up. I was bawling. It wasn’t pretty and had me drawing the attention of the other mothers at the school. To explain to someone that I’m crying over an author blowing my mind was difficult, but it intrigued them enough to look up the book. So I say it was a win win.

Courtney Cole, I’m so glad you stuck to your gut in the way you wrote this story and I cannot wait to see what’s next. I’m still having a book hangover and can’t wait to get my hands on VERUM. If you haven’t picked up your copy of NOCTE by Courtney Cole, I suggest you do so now. You won’t be disappointed.

NOCTE by Courtney Cole BLEW me out of the water. I had a book hangover for days! Calla
Prince has always felt responsible and like a caretaker to her twin brother Finn. Finn has
psychologicalissues. Voices telling him what to do. Calla has always protected and been there
for Finn. Finn goes to therapy and writes in a journal. I loved all the latin references Courtney
used because I took latin in high school. I felt for Finn, I wanted to hug him. Calla and Finn are
coping through a loss. Calla accompanies Finn to his therapy appointments, where she meets
a guy named Dare. Trying to decide if she wants to go to separate colleges from Finn and
wanting a relationship with Dare is pulling Calla in different directions. Can she forge her OWN
life? But the guilt of going separate ways from Finn really bothers her. Finn is also keeping
secrets from Calla. Reading the book you will see there are so many twists!!! I loved IT!!!
Courtney Cole pulls you into this book and has you going..... wait what? Pay attention, I looked
over a few pages again and again. This book stuck with me for days!! I want the second book
now!! I NEEEEED to know what is happening!! Let NOCTE grab you and LOVE IT along with
the rest of us!!

Excerpt
A few blocks down by campus, there’s a Starbucks. I practically live here during finals week, and I pull Jill inside so we can grab a Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. We get comfy on the couch by the window so we can people watch. It’s one of my favorite games, and Jill cracks up when I peg their drinks by their looks. It’s a little judgmental, but it’s all in good spirit. I mean it’s not like I say he’s getting a Chai Latte because he’s gay, or that she’s getting a Skinny Non-fat Vanilla Frappuccino with no whip cream because she’s fat. It’s more like I can see the person behind their clothes and accessories. It’s a gift my art professors raved about throughout school.

“What is tall, dark, and brooding getting, Ames?” Jill’s voice holds a challenge.

I examine the guy. He’s definitely tall, probably around 6’2’’ with black hair. The skin I can see is tanned, and he’s wearing some dark washed blue jeans with a light blue button up. Preppy but not overly so. I would peg him as either a business or architect major, and I start going through a list of possible drinks in my head.

“You better hurry, Ames. He’s getting ready to order.” She laughs at the length it’s taken me to decide on a drink for him.

“He’s going to get a Venti Café Americano with a double shot, no cream,” I say as he approaches the counter.

Pulling out my phone, I see that I have a few missed calls from my dad, and I make a mental note to call him back. I open up the browser to search for places to take Jill out tonight. It needs to be out of the way of campus so we don’t run into the jerk and his new girl, but close enough if we have to walk home.
“Can I get a Venti Café Americano with a double shot,” a smooth, deep voice echoes around the shop.
I look up to see every girl looking toward the back of the store where the guy just ordered what I predicted. Something about his voice draws my attention to his back, like I want to examine him further.

“Told you, Jill,” I say through a smile as I look over at her and away from him.

“You sure you’re not psychic?” She locks eyes with me and then they flicker away to only widen.

“What? Don’t tell me Stephen is here with that girl, Jill. I will personally take him out of the store and beat him senseless.” I get ready to turn around when a chuckle has me frozen in my chair.

“Do you ladies mind if I join you?” It’s the voice from the guy who just ordered.

Jill shakes her head no and gestures with her hand for him to take a seat. I stare daggers at her, but she just shrugs at me. Resting back into my chair, I continue the search for the right club, but can’t come up with anything that would guarantee a Stephen-free night.

“Marcus!” the barrista calls.

I look up to see the guy next to us eye me as he rises to fetch his coffee. Turning my attention to Jill, I see her study his ass and grin. She obviously likes what she sees.

“No creamer right?” I lean over and whisper at her.

“None. He’s coming back this way though.” Smiling at me, her eyes shimmer.

“What, why?” I let out.

“Why what?” Marcus asks as he sits down in the chair opposite me.

“Nothing.” I reply like I’m annoyed at his intrusion. He just shrugs it off like it’s not a big deal, and I decide to ignore him.

“So, I think we’re going to need to get ourselves a DD so we can go out tonight, Jill.” I smile at her.

“Come on, Ames. I don’t want to run into him,” she pleads with me.

“I know. I’ve been looking at clubs further out, which is why we would need a sober driver to accompany us.”

“I don’t mean to include myself in this conversation, but why don’t you just go to the new club that opens tonight. Déjà vu is on the corner of Main and Avenue X, so it’s close to the campus,” Marcus offers with a smile.

“No offense, but if it’s new, it’s a sure thing that her ex,” I point at Jill, “will be there, and the point of the night is to have fun.”

“Well, I have it on good authority to say that the only people getting into the club are ones with their names on the list.”

His smirk graces his face and it pulls my attention to examine him. Gorgeous set of lips that I could get lost in kissing, a nose that’s slightly crooked from being broken, and when my eyes make their way to his, a blue that’s not entirely blue. They have specks of green and yellow floating around and glinting off the light in the coffee shop. My train of thought goes fuzzy for a second, and I look away from him by grabbing my drink off the table while I try and process why all of a sudden I feel the need to wrap my body around his.

“Right, so a VIP list that our names wouldn’t be on either. How does that help?” The words fly out of my mouth. I tend to speak fast when I’m nervous.

“I can get you on the list,” Marcus says in a way that makes me rethink wrapping my body around his.

REVIEW

What can I say except that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this novella! I love everything Dani writes but this one captured me and took me on a small trip.  I want more from Ames and Marcus but also I loved that it was a quick read.  I was fortunate enough to be there as Dani brought the story together.  After reading it several times I can say I see this going far and people demanding more! Dani has a way of writing books that bring you in, experience the emotions of the characters and then leaves you wanting more by the ending.  Her characters become part of you.  In Deja Vu, Ames and her roommate Jill have headed to a coffee shop, where Ames is great at figuring out what people will order based on how they look.  I loved this part!  There they meet Marcus.  HOT HOT HOT.  Ames is dead on with his coffee choice.  He invited them to this new club Deja Vu.  Well Ames and Marcus hit it off.  Knowing that she is a good graphic artist, suggests that she should make something for the club.  He says he "knows" the owners.  What Ames finds out might change her mind about Marcus.  You will have to read this.  If I don't stop here I will tell you the whole book!  Now quick, go buy it, read it and get taken away.  Then go tell Dani how much you LOVED it!

Our review of Hale Maree...
So I absolutely fell in love with Misty Provencher when I read her Cornerstone Series. She is totally awesome was so excited when she started venturing out of the limitations of YA. Hale Maree is seriously awesome.  I could not wait to read it and I read it so fast and adored it.

So Hale, awesome name right? I swear Misty is so creative when it comes to naming her characters. Anyways, Hale lives with her alcoholic father, just graduated…high school, has an awesome best friend named Sher, not a perfect life but she’s ok. That is until her dad comes home drunk with a friend. Usually she just escapes to her room, but this time she over hears the conversation between her dad and his friend. A conversation that has her completely freaked out. I mean if your dad just agreed to have you married to his friend’s son, you would be creeped out too right? Who does that these days, I mean come on. Totally against the idea, she decides she’s going to refuse it as much as she can. She meet’s the guy when they drive to his house to pick him up to pass out flyers, and the guy, Oscar, is HOTT and moves like smoke. Is she going to be able to resist him?

Oscar is helping his dad’s friend and the friend’s daughter pass out flyers for the new landscaping company they established. He has no clue what is going on just yet. So he talks to Hale tells her she’s pretty and that he has a girlfriend. He calls Hale later that night to invite her for some coffee, when Hale talks about his loyalty to his girlfriend his reply is genious, “I am,” he sighs,”but if you are going to be my wife, I guess that trumps and loyalty I have to a girlfriend, now doesn’t it?” I seriously love Oscar, he’s smart, sexy, and perfect in his imperfectness. That gets her to meet him, and when she arrives home, Oscar being a gentleman walks her to the door.

Hale opens the door to find a drunk father and her stuff packed. Yelling occurs and a broken bottle of whiskey later, Hale is getting back in the truck with Oscar. Oscar grabs some clothes from his house and they head to his beach house.  Is it possible to turn a crappy situation around? Can Hale give Oscar a chance and getting to know her and letting him in? Can love be formed in a matter of a week? Well you are going to have to read to see if Oscar and Hale make their arranged marriage mean more than that.

I love Misty Provencher 's Keystone series and was PUMPED to Read Hale Maree after she described it on twitter. My super awesome friend and blogger partner Dani bought it for me.  I was glad she did!

Hale and her dad are so poor. They live in the poor part of town and scrape by.  One night Hale is cooking dinner when her dad comes home drunk with a friend.  She feeds them and leaves.  She is actually scared how they are talking because her dad says...... that ........ He agrees to marry her off to this guys son Oscar.  It's like they have set it all up!  Hale is MORTIFIED! She does not want this to happen!  Her friend Sher wants to help her get away, but Hale decides to stick with it.

Helping her dad put out flyers for the lawn business Hale gets to meet Oscar.  She is not sure she likes him. But he is super cute.  Oscar invites her out for coffee to try to get to know her.  This leads to Hale freaking out, and Oscar is so patient.  When she gets home what awaits her? Her dad has packed her things and Sends her to live with Oscar.  She FREAKS!

What happens when Hale spends a WEEK with Oscar? What is the Real thing that has this marriage by force set up! And Can Two People Fall in love in one week despite ALL these odds that are against them?

READ!! And I will tell you, you will FALL in LOVE with OSCAR. WOW what a cutie! So patient, kind and wonderfully loving.  Do they sell guys like him at the store? Really? Great Job Misty!

Our review of Full of Grace...
I was so excited to hear that Landon was going to get his own story, however I didn’t think it was going to be like this! I had the idea that Sher, Hale’s best friend, was going to play an important part and I knew it was going to be awesome. I was completely blown away by the turn out of the book. It’s no secret that Landon was my favorite, even from Hale Maree. There was just something about Landon that stuck with me and had me begging the author to give him his own book. Especially after having to put up with the psycho ex-girlfriend.

Misty always captures my attention from the beginning of the book, but like Landon I have to admit Sher’s giggling got on my nerves. Also like Landon I had to remind myself that she’s an 18 year old girl with a crush on the epically hot boy. Yup, Landon you’re hot, you know this from our last interview :) haha

Ok so a little bit about the book yea? Well I hate spoilers so I’m not going to elaborate much because, well, I’ll give away spoilers and we don’t want that.  Landon meets Sher at Oscar’s and Hale’s wedding. Close to being 10 bananas, maybe slightly more, one night in the pool house turns into something much more. First times are supposed to be remembered and boy do they remember that night. But just when things start looking up for Landon, beautiful girl, fatherhood on his mind, and deadest on changing Sher’s mind about “getting rid” of the baby, the other shoe drops. What’s the news that Sher has been keeping from Landon? Will Landon stick by even after the news is out? Can he be the bigger man even if the news doesn’t sway his way?

“It would be such a mistake, Sher, to deprive the world of another you.”

All these questions will be answered and trust me when I say you are going to LOVE Landon more than you did before after this book. There is one certain thing that I absolutely LOVED and I mean LOVED about the way Misty wrote Landon, it involves letters he writes to someone. Those touched my heart and will always have me saying Landon is just as swoon worthy as any other guy, if not more! So good job Misty, I love Landon more now than I did before. Which is crazy because I loved him uber hard already.

Loving Misty Provencher and Having devoured Hale Maree, I was excited to Jump into Full of Grace. I wanted to see what Landon would be up too. Sadly I had a slow start but then took a day and dove in. LOVED the story. Landon is a great guy that Misty Created! I was however, annoyed by Sher. Once I understood her a bit more I was okay with her.
The book starts where Hale Maree left off, at Oscar and Hale's wedding. Landon and Sher are wedding attendants and paired together. There's, attraction, alcohol and both are a few bananas gone. (Landon's term) With attraction high it's inevitable that Landon and Sher indulge in each other. Sher's first time. After that things are awkward. Landon is one stand up guy, trying to get back with her. Sher does not make things easy... And that is where I got annoyed with her. She is one tough cookie.  What happens in that 4 weeks time that throws Landon and Sher together? It's a lesson in trust, and maturity. I love that Landon's last name is Grace. To me he has A LOT of that for others. Especially Sher. Sweet book! Loved the ending I cried! Thanks Misty!

Twenty-two-year-old historical romance writer Nicole Blake, or N.S. Blake to her readers, hasn't taken an official poll, mind you, but she is convinced she may be the only romance author on the planet who is still a card-carrying member of the virgin club.

Not that she hasn't tried to end her membership. Life just keeps finding pesky ways to interfere. With no prospects on the horizon, Nicole begins to feel like the closest she will ever get to experiencing a man is within her own stories.
Opportunity presents itself in the form of hot-as-sin-on-a-lollipop-stick bartender/premed student Alec Petropoulos, who agrees to be the cover model for her upcoming book. Sparks fly instantly between them, and Nicole begins to entertain the possibility that she's finally found the right guy to hand over her tattered V-card. Alec has all the makings for a perfect one-night-stand candidate except, much to Nicole's surprise, he seems to be the only man in existence not interested in bagging a virgin.

Stuck between a rock and a stubborn male, what's a virgin to do? Seduce him, of course. How hard could it be? If it works for the characters in her stories, why wouldn't it work for her?

After all, what happens under the cover…stays under the cover.

I fell in love with Misty Provencher when I read her YA Cornerstone Series. I usually tend to be obsessed over an author once I find their writing style to capture and hold my attention, Misty is one of these authors. Though I love a good paranormal book, I love reading about issues that people face on a daily basis, especially topics that some might think are controversial. Misty tackles a few of these topics in Stronger and she does it with beautiful grace, that no one can ignore the messages behind the words.

Lydia Strong married young and when her husband Desmond decides he wants a better life, he meets another woman. So to block all that out she drinks and brings home a different guy every night. Until Aiden moves into her apartment building. He notices her and she feels things for him that she hasn't felt since she met Desmond. Aiden notices her addictions, he was there once, and he wants to help her.  The thing is you cant help someone unless they want the help. So that leaves the question... does Lydia want the help?  What happens when Desmond  finds out about Aiden? Can Lydia survive the present to have a future with Aiden?

I was in complete Devour mode as soon as I started this book and stayed awake until it was finished. Misty has a way of capturing my attention, breaking my heart, and fixing it all over again by letting me be apart of an epic love story. If you haven't read this book, you need to drop what you are doing and grab it now. You won't be the same after you've read it and you definitely won't be disappointed. Stronger by Misty Provencher surprised me in so many good ways! I loved her cornerstone series so I was hoping for great things from this book and I wasn't disappointed. This book is filled with such dark, strong emotions I couldn't stop. Lydia's life isn't what she thought it would be. She's married to her high school love, but he's also married to another woman. She's addicted to drinking and drugs and sex. I think her salvation comes in the form of her neighbor, Aidan, who has been through those demons. You ask why is she married to an asshole? You'll have to read to find out. Aidan.... Wow more of him!! He shows Lydia the life she can have. As a stronger person. Meeting her friends in AA and having so many people in her life she didn't think she'd have. She comes out on top!! Take this trip with her and Misty! I want more!!

Losing Enough by Helen Boswell Review & Giveaway

Buy Links
Amazon US | B&N | Kobo

When I found out that Helen Boswell was writing an NA novel and that it was set in Vegas, I was thrilled. I live in Las Vegas and the author nailed the details perfectly. This book isn't your typical NA, in terms of sex, they do have it but it’s not the sole focus. Losing Enough is more than what’s out there right now. It's about real life struggles, falling in love, and learning to let go.

Alexis, Alex, is a girl some might think as spoiled because every summer she gets to vacation in Las Vegas while her High Roller dad plays the scene, but it’s nothing like that. First night in town she goes to see her best friend at the bar she works at, bumps into a guy that seems like an ass. Little does she know that she will be seeing more of him, especially when he saves her from a douche bag and then takes her home.

Connor…oh how I love Connor. He comes off as an ass, but in his line of work, and his past, you can’t
really blame him. When a girl he took home for his cousin to make up for the past, he never thought he would be thinking about her again. Connor has a past though, one he moved to Vegas to avoid, but it seems it’s found him anyways. I love who he becomes with Alex. She's able to break through his walls and see the real Connor that's hidden deep.

When Alex and Connor start seeing each other, things in both of their lives make things difficult. Alex’s mom is sick and her dad got into business with the wrong person, Connor’s twin brother has a demand, and the feelings between the two are more than just a fling. But will they let it develop into something more? Life has a way of pulling people together just when you need it, but sometimes fate needs a helping hand.

Does Alex and Connor have a future, or will the past get in the way? You need to pick this book up and read it for yourself. Helen Boswell did an amazing job in bringing these characters to life, and my only complaint is I want more. I couldn’t get enough of Alex and Connor and hope to see more of them later on. Hear that Helen Boswell, can I get a novella please? This is definitely a book I can read over and over again, just writing this review weeks after I read the book, makes me want to pick it back up!

Losing Enough by Helen Boswell was just amazing! I could not put it down! I loved the story flow and all the characters.  Alexis was heading to Las Vegas to meet up with her parents for vacation.  High Roller hotel and Room, it was to be the ultimate!  Her and her best friend Elle is a hoot! I love her and glad I have a friend just as fun! Alexis is there to hit the clubs and to just have an over all blast.  She didn't gamble on meeting a hot private security guard by the name of Connor. Connor has built the private security business for himself.  Escaping the life his twin brother was leading.  He took care of all  the high rollers and this put him in perfect view of Alexis and her father.  They both did not want a relationship but the attraction was there. Can they let down their walls and take a chance.  Also when Connor’s “evil twin” comes into play will it ruin everything he has worked up to?
I LOVED this book and love that Helen took a chance on this story! I want more already! Loved every character! You should go try out this book!!

Originally from upstate New York, Helen Boswell spent several years of her early adult life tromping around in the city of Buffalo with frequent trips to Toronto, Canada. These two cities in particular serve as inspirational settings for her urban fantasies, and while Helen has since moved to live in the southwestern United States, she will have fond memories of urban life and high-heeled sneakers for all eternity.
Helen earned her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo and dedicates her time to teaching biology and other fun things to college students, spending time with her wonderful family, and eating chocolate while writing.
The YA urban fantasy MYTHOLOGY is her first novel and the first one in the Mythology Series.
