Hensley Bradley is the definition of the girl-next-door. She’s kindhearted, beautiful, and talented. Bored with her mundane life, thoughts of fleeing her small town begin to consume her. With aspiring dreams to use her voice as a one-way ticket, she suddenly discovers that music might not be her only passion.
After a fallout back home, Colby Grant decides to leave his family’s farm, determined to show his father he’s more than just a wanna-be country singer. With his All-American good looks, it doesn’t take long for girls in his new town to focus their eyes on him. But things aren’t what they appear from the outside, and it isn’t long until Colby feels he doesn't fit into the perfect world that so quickly embraced him.
A chance encounter places Hensley in Colby’s path, but it isn’t her natural beauty that first captures his attention – it’s her voice.
When love and music mix, will the combination blossom into a beautiful melody or wither into a heart-wrenching tune?
Christina's Review
I fell in love with this book. I read it rather quickly. Colby Grant is a character that you can help but love. He is leaving home to get away from stuff going on in his family and to pursue his dream of a music career. When he gets to Nashville to meet his roommate Dusty he finds that a beautiful girl comes with the package. See Dusty's best friend Hensley can sing and stays with him all the time. There is an instant connection with Colby and Hensley. Hensley had protected herself from men because of how her mom is. She wants a singing career and to move away from home. Colby breaks down Hensley's walls and they form this relationship that is utterly beautiful. I mean a guy who calls you Sunshine??/ Who wouldn't melt at that? Dusty, Colby and Hensley form a trio singing. They get noticed, well Colby does. He tries to get the 3 of them noticed and when the greedy manager wants just Colby he turns them down. They go right for Hensley and she Accepts! She has no idea about Colby's offer.
When Hensley moves to California will she change? And what will happen when Colby visits and is forced by the music label to tell her about his offer? Can they make it back to each other? And when a tragic even brings Hensley home, can she remember WHO she is.
I loved all aspects of this book. And my heart broke for the pain that both Colby and Hensley had in their lives. I loved the whole story. Go fall in love with In the Lyrics.
