I love Lauren Blakely’s books and The Thrill of It did not disappoint! It was heavy at times and I wanted to yell “COME ON get with it already” But all good stories take time and the characters have to grow. I love Trey and Harley! Harley used to be a call girl, with no sex, and is not trying to turn her life around. Trey is there for the almost the same reason. But, they have met once before. Since they are in recovery they have to remain just friends for now. The attraction they have almost makes it impossible. They both tell each other everything, except Trey is keeping one secret in his life. He doesn’t want to loose Harley’s friendship so he tries to keep things safe. Harley hasn't told her roommate what she used to do and they have been friends since school. Harley is also being blackmailed by a woman to write what happened to her as a teen. See Harley things her mother wanted this for her and brought her up to become a woman who pleases men. Harley’s “pimp” Cam, is one character that I loved. He truly wanted to take care of her.
Trey knows what happened to Harley and wants to keep her from going back to that life. When they get super close and Trey back runs from her, it does just that. Harley thinks she is not worth anyone’s love and is no better than just a call girl.
Can Trey open up to her and let her know how he feels? And what happens when her story comes out to her mother?
This book was heavy at times and full of emotion. I loved it and can’t wait for the next one!
